I got home from work last night and walked into our kitchen. On the table was a box and, inside, was the Krups Sandwich Express Sandwich Maker and the breville panini duo. Out of curiosity, I asked my wife where the sandwich maker came from and it turns out we bought it some time ago, had put it away in one of our cupboards and forgotten about it. She had been cleaning earlier in the day, came across it and decided we should put it to some use. I’m glad she did because I now love this product.
For those of you who have never heard of this product, the Krups Sandwich Express Sandwich Maker is an indoor grill that is specially designed to make hot sandwiches. All you need to do to use it is butter four slices of bread, place two slices butter side down, put in your favorite sandwich items, add the other two slices butter side up and close the lid. The sandwich maker then grills the bread (sealing the edges) and heats the food inside.
It has been very cold outside (it was minus 15 degrees when I woke up this morning) and I have to tell you, on a cold day, a hot sandwich really hits the spot. I had some leftover ham from dinner a couple nights before and placed that, along with a slice of cheese on my bread and it was one of the best hot ham and cheese sandwiches I ever had. Normally, I would end up using a skillet and almost always burn the bread or, if I put the food in the microwave, I have to deal with soggy bread. The sandwich maker toasted the bread perfectly.
As we were playing around with this product, we found it had other uses other than just sandwiches too. We had some pie filling in our cupboard and discovered, when used with the bread, the sandwich maker is great for making small, hot pies. After having those, I was ready to experiment more and probably would have if we didn’t run out of bread.
If you are looking for something that will allow you to make quick, tasty meals or if you are looking for something to give as a gift to someone who might have everything else, this is a product I would recommend buying. Now that we rediscovered it and used it, I can see us using this on a regular basis.
